Kelso
With thirteen fixtures in the season, Kelso is the home of National Hunt Racing, and it’s race goers are made to feel really welcome. The racecourse is steeped in history, tradition, and utter respect for the sport. The facilities are everything you could want, whether you visit just to lay a fiver on the fourth race and grab a pint, or whether you’ve decided to throw a smoked salmon reception in one of our nineteen private suites – it’s a wonderful balance.
The racecourse itself (much the same as Cheltenham only smaller) has large, solid steeple chase fences and a long, punishing, uphill run-in. Consequently, many trainers use the January and February meetings as a trial for the National Hunt Festival and Aintree, bringing top-grade jumpers to the Borders’ premier racecourse.
Horse racing at Kelso offers the unique charm of a bygone era, coupled with the very best in modern facilities.
